The words "beloved" and "politician" rarely appear in the same sentence, let alone in the same three word phrase, one word describing the other. This is not how we should view those people we select to govern. Sadly, we have far too many examples of politicians behaving badly to think otherwise. For our own good, this situation needs to change.



The purpose of this blog is to introduce you to a political leader who was a "beloved politician" during his lifetime. John Martin was respected by political allies and political adversaries alike. He was known throughout the English speaking world of the 19th century as Honest John Martin. His conduct, his ideas, though products of a different century, provide a model for leaders today



Though he was famous during much of his life, his memory has faded into oblivion. Post by post, I will rectify this historical blunder, as I introduce you to a politician well worth the knowing.
